Real Food Wythenshawe is an ambitious five-year programme to engage and excite the people of Wythenshawe in growing and cooking fresh, sustainable food. Real Food Wythenshawe will reach as far across the entire community as possible.

We also want to make Wythenshawe the exemplar for food projects in the 21st Century. We’re going to be building and running innovative indoor food growing systems and stimulating discussion around sustainable urban food production, alongside our many community activities. Everything we do will be inclusive, and will have the people of Wythenshawe at its heart.

In September 2012, Real Food Wythenshawe received funding of £1,000,000 from the BIG Lottery Fund. In addition, match funding will be provided by partners and fundraising during the lifespan of the programme.

The funds will be spent on a number of different projects and activities, all focused on getting the people of Wythenshawe growing, cooking and eating fresh, sustainable food. We’re also planning support and activities to help local people to establish new food-based enterprises, developing new skills and opportunities.

There will be five flagship projects delivered by the programme, as well as a communications campaign to help spread the word. A team of dedicated staff will ensure that it runs successfully and meets its objectives.
